Video of K-pop band's antics draws flak on social media

PETALING JAYA: A three minute and 21-second video of a Korean pop (K-pop) band member hugging three fans wearing tudung (headscarf) on stage has gone viral on Facebook.
The video, which has received 1,160,751 views as of Sunday night, includes a scene where a member of K-pop band B1A4 hugged a girl from behind, across her chest before she turned around to hug him again, while in another scene, a girl was kissed on her forehead by a band member.
All three girls looked nervous to be on stage.
Most of the comments on the Facebook posting, which was uploaded at 10.55am on Sunday, criticised the fans of B1A4 for their on-stage behaviour.
"It is disappointing to see these women properly covered up but with their souls laid naked by these K-pop band members.
“We can't take any action against the organisers or the Koreans because these acts involve the individuals. It is a question of dignity and self worth," commented Hanish Shuriku Shenzen on the Sukan Star TV Facebook page.
Another netizen Qaseh Dyana also expressed disappointment over the behaviour of the three fans.
"The video made me cry because those girls, even though they wore headscarves have no dignity. Because of a drop of henna, the whole pot of milk is spoiled," commented Qaseh, with Yusoff Tipd agreeing that the conduct of the girls was "extremely embarrassing to Islam".
Similar views were shared by Imi Qaf, who said that the K-pop singers should not be blamed.
"What is strange, however is those who wear tudung behaving like they have no religion. Are they not embarrassed," added Imi.
The video even drew an outburst on Twitter from Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
"A lot has been said about K-pop. I hope Malaysian girls return to tall, dark and handsome men and not pale, skinny and pretty men. Those are not real men," tweeted Khairy on his official account, @Khairykj.
